We are now looking for a local ombudsman for division 40 Västbo-Östbo with an office in Värnamo.

The position is a permanent employment and is full-time with start date according to agreement.

About the position

The main tasks consist of providing labor law advice and representing members in negotiations and disputes. The role includes recruiting members, forming clubs, recruiting and supporting elected representatives at workplaces, as well as creating engagement for membership and union values.

As a local ombudsman, you will negotiate collective agreements at workplaces within IF Metall's areas. The work involves building relationships, establishing trust, but also conducting negotiations in a solution-oriented manner at the workplaces where you are assigned negotiation mandates. An important part is to prioritize workplaces without clubs and also to pay special attention to women's working conditions and professional development. In this role, you are expected to strengthen union-political work by engaging in political decisions that are important for the members.

As an ombudsman, you work on behalf of the division board, for the interests of the members. The work occurs within the geographical area of the division and the collective agreement areas present in the region. You are independently responsible for negotiations and member matters and report to the local coordinator. Additionally, you have close cooperation with other ombudsmen and administrators in the division.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with our agreements for local ombudsmen.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with experience in union work as a union representative with good labor law knowledge and/or experience in labor law advice. The role requires that you have experience in negotiations and have worked with member recruitment or organizing. Previous experience as an ombudsman or in collective agreement negotiations is an advantage. You express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and have basic knowledge of English. However, it is an advantage to have very good English skills or good knowledge of another language. You are a regular user of IT tools in your daily work. Since travel is part of the job, a B driver's license is required.

As a person, you are relationship-building, solution-oriented, and communicative. You are used to making your own priorities and organizing work so that members always receive help and support. You understand how important it is for negotiations to be handled correctly as the outcome can have direct consequences for individuals as well as for the collective. You are confident in decision-making and understand how important it is for formalities to be correct to be able to advance cases. As a person, you are responsible and results-oriented and have the ability to remain calm even in pressured situations. You share the values of the labor movement.
